Itinerary

Arrive early morning at Rishikesh and check into the camp/ hotel. After breakfast we do a half day trip of ganga river rafting starting from Marine drive to get familiar with paddling and safety techniques. After an introduction and safety talk we hit some of the most splashing rapids like three blind mice, cross fire, camel’s back, return to sender, Roller coaster, Golf course, cash flow, Initiation and Double Trouble. One can try Body Surfing and Cliff Jumping in this section. In the later part, we float across the past temples and ashrams and Ghats enjoying the riverbank life along the holy river. This trip will take about 3-4 hours. We go back to the hotel for lunch and prepare for the next day. In the evening you can choose to go for evening prayers at some of the Ghats of Rishikesh or you can do your shopping for the expedition. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast we drive to Kaldubagar which takes about 6-7 hours through the towns of Devprayag ,Srinagar and Rudarprayag. On the way you will see a dam on the Alaknanda river  and hear the stories from our guides how it has changed the course of rivers in last many years.. After reaching Kaldubagar and settling in, there will a briefing on the river trip and how the next few days would shape up. We pack all the stuff in dry bags and get ready for the next day. Stay overnight in a hotel/river camp

This is one of the most enticing days of the trip with lot of challenges in the river. Rafting team drives early to Chamoli which is our put-in for the trip. At the put- in we help in getting the rafts ready. Here we again do a river briefing about safety in the river and talk about how the rapids and river look like. The expedition begins with a lot of grade 4/4+ rapids. Depending on the volume of water, we negotiate or walk around the “Hillary Fall”, a rapid at Nandprayag. We call it a day at Kaldubagar after a long exhilarating day on the river.

Kaldubagar to Gauchar is another day of fun white water trip. We hit some good class 3 and class 4 rapids and pass through the confluence of Alaknanda and Pinder at Karnaprayag where Pinder adds more volume of water to the river. The beaches here are bigger and sandy. Spend your night gazing stars at bonfire and get a good night sleep.

After breakfast we get on the river and raft till Rudarpryag. This is more of pool and drop section with good class 3/4 rapids. The river is wider and bigger as compared to the first day. After about 2 hrs in the river we reach the “Kakar Fall”, a grade 5 rapid. After a thorough inspection of the rapid we negotiate it or or finish the rafting trip before the rapid. Drive back to Rishikesh. Transfer to Haridwar to board the evening train. Trip ends.

* Previous rafting and kayaking experience would help. This expedition requires a minimum of 4 committed rafters.
